10 Foods That Detoxify The Body.

Posted by beautyjust4you on September 26, 2009

Everyday, we are faced with increasing exposure to toxins from what we eat and drink, medical drugs that we take, cosmetic products that we use, as well as alcohol, cigarettes and pollutants in our environment. Under normal circumstances, our body is naturally able to deal with toxins efficiently. However, given the high amount of toxicity we are susceptible to these days, we should try to minimize the burden on our organs that are responsible for eliminating toxins from our body.

The following   is a  list  of foods that should be added to your diet.

1. Fruits

  • extremely high in liquid-content, helping the body wash out toxins
  • very easy to digest and are high in antioxidants, nutrients, fiber and many important vitamins like vitamin C

2. Green Foods

  • blue green algae, barley, wheatgrass, kale, spinach, spirulina, alfalfa, chard, arugula or other organic leafy greens
  • helps give a chlorophyll-boost to your digestive tract. Chlorophyll rids the body of harmful environmental toxins from smog, heavy metals, herbicides, cleaning products and pesticides.
  • aid the liver in detoxification.

3. Lemons, Oranges and Limes

  • aid the body in flushing out toxins, as well as jump-start the digestive tract with enzymatic processes
  • aid the liver in its cleansing processes
  • start each morning with a warm glass of lemon water to increase detoxification
  • vitamin C is one of the best detox vitamins around, as it transforms toxins into digestible material

4. Garlic

  • stimulates the liver in producing detoxification enzymes that help filter out toxic residues in the digestive system

5. Broccoli Sprouts

  • extremely high in antioxidants
  • help stimulate the detoxification enzymes in the digestive tract like none-other
  • sprouts are actually more effective than the fully-grown vegetable

6. Green Tea

  • packed full of antioxidants
  • washes toxins out of the system through its liquid content
  • contains a special type of antioxidant called catechins, known to increase liver function

7. Mung Beans

  • has been used by Ayurvedic doctors for thousands of years
  • incredibly easy to digest
  • absorbs toxic residue on the sides of the intestinal walls

8. Raw Vegetables

  • best for juicing detox  regimens or eaten raw: Onions, carrots, artichoke, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, garlic, beet, turmeric, and oregano
  • combination of these foods will help your liver purge toxins during the cleansing process
  • high in naturally occurring sulphur and glutathione. Sulphur helps the liver detoxify harmful chemicals.

9. Seeds & Nuts

  • flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts, hemp seeds, sesame seeds, chia seeds, Siberian cedar nuts and sunflower seeds
  • avoid nut butters

10. Omega 3Oils

  • hemp, flax-seed, avocado or olive oils
  • help lubricate the intestinal walls, allowing the toxins to be absorbed by the oil, and eliminated by the body

How To Hide A Double Chin

Posted by beautyjust4you on July 19, 2008

Believe it or not, many women, full-figured and thin alike, battle the dreaded double chin. Everything from extra pounds to weight loss to poor posture can exacerbate this problem, and minimizing its appearance can seem like an impossible task. But take heart, there are beauty and fashion tricks you can use to create the illusion of a longer, slimmer, double-chin-free neck.

Here’s how:

A double chin can make your whole neckline look thick and stumpy. Your aim, then, is to make your neck look as long and lean as possible. One way to do this is to keep your neckline free of hair. That can mean choosing a short cut — something with lots of chunky layers draws the eye up and away from your chin. It can also mean wearing your hair up, giving the illusion of a longer, slimmer neck.

Keep your makeup focus on the eyes and cheeks. Doing so draws the eye upward to your amazing eyes or flushed cheeks, taking emphasis off your neck. Be sure your brows are groomed impeccably, and then use neutral eye shadows and plenty of soft liner and mascara to add eye definition. Or go for the flushed-cheek effect by applying color to the apples of your cheeks; in this case, dress eyes with a coat of mascara only.

Attempt to contour. Heavy contouring (the kind you tried in seventh grade to make your nose look slimmer) is too obvious. Instead, go for the subtlest touch. Dust a bronzer powder in a light shade along your jawline, under your chin. This creates a shadow, which in turn makes your chin look less conspicuous. Sweep some bronzer over your temples and nose to keep the look natural.

Fashion Tricks

Avoid tops that stop just below your neck, as they’ll emphasize your double chin. Crewnecks, boatnecks, and high v-necks are all off-limits.

Pick tops that elongate your neckline. As with your hairstyle, your choice of top can make your neck look longer and leaner (and your chin less noticeable). Go for tops with deep v-necks or scoop necks, or wear open-collared button-downs. Another option: A high turtleneck that camouflages your double chin.

Choose accessories wisely. Chokers that pinch your neck, long earrings that end alongside your problem area, and neck scarves all draw attention to a double chin. Instead, pick pieces that elongate and draw the eye away from your chin, such as a long lariat or necklace, sparkly stud earrings, and scarves worn away from the neck.

What Your Nails Are Telling You About Your Health

Posted by beautyjust4you on July 14, 2008

 The pits

A  perfectly manicured hand is one where the nails are strong and smooth, with no discoloration, jagged cuticles or other signs of abuse. But what about nails that are less than perfect? Since many health problems have an impact on the nails, it’s worth listening to what your hands have to say.

When the normally smooth surface of the fingernail has several small dents or pits in it, that can be a signal that something is going on beneath the nail. Most often, the cause of those dents is psoriasis.

The inflammatory skin condition—it shows up as red, scaly patches on the skin—can also affect the skin cells in the nails. Instead of growing out smoothly, the surface of the nail takes on a dented appearance. Once the psoriasis is treated and under control, nails will slowly return to normal. (Since nails only grow about a millimeter per week, it will take a few months for the old, pitted nail to fully grow out and be replaced with a healthy one.)

 Spoon-shaped

A healthy nail has a specific shape—slightly raised in the middle, then curving down a bit at the tip. So when you see a nail with the exact opposite configuration, that should be a clue that all is not right. “It’s called a spoon-shaped nail, and it’s a symptom of iron deficiency anemia. As with many health problems, it can take months of iron deficiency before the problem shows up in the nails. And when the anemia is corrected, it will take awhile for normal-shaped nails to re-grow.

 Peeling

The nail plate is made up of several layers of keratin (a protein). Ideally, those layers are sealed together to form a unified, strong nail. But when nails aren’t protected—your hands are in water a lot, or exposed to cold, dry air—those layers tend to delaminate. The result is nails that are likely to peel. Besides being an indication that you need to take better care of your nails—polish can help seal the layers and moisturizing them several times a day will keep the layers supple—peeling nails can mean a diet that’s lacking in linoleic acid. The easiest way to up your intake is to increase your use of vegetable oils (add some to your salad dressing or drizzle some on steamed veggies).

 Brittleness

By some estimates, about 20 percent of women suffer from a condition called “brittle nail syndrome.” While it may sound like just a fancy name for nails that break easily, the causes go deeper than that. Brittle nails are ones that can’t hold on to moisture, so the layers of the nail plate dry out and crack. Medically speaking, it’s possible for an under-active thyroid to cause both dry skin and brittle nails. Nutritionally, a diet low in iron can cause nails to become thin, brittle and easily broken (eating more green, leafy vegetables, red meat and eggs will help boost your iron intake). Biotin supplements (a B-complex vitamin) have also been shown to improve the condition of brittle nails. And your habits play a role as well. The main culprit: excessive exposure to water. Constantly wetting and drying your hands (and nails) can make brittleness worse.

 Looking yellow

A healthy nail (with healthy skin beneath its bed) has a pretty, pinkish hue. When it doesn’t, that may be a reason to worry.Yellow spots on the nails can be an indicator of fungus or psoriasis.  Since any of these conditions warrants treatment by a doctor, it’s worth seeing a dermatologist if yellow nails persist. Women who frequently wear very dark nail polish for long periods of time (especially without using a protective basecoat underneath it) may also notice a slight yellowing of their nails, but it’s no reason to panic. The nails are merely stained from the polish and will return to their normal shade if they are left unpolished for a while.

 White spots

Tiny white splotches dotting otherwise healthy-looking pink nails are not normally a sign of anything serious. Most often, those spots are the manifestation of some type of trauma to the nail. If you injure the nail matrix—the area at the base of the nail where new nail cells are created—you’ll see the results of that trauma show up as white spots as the nails grow out. But since it takes several weeks for those new nail cells to grow out to a place on the nail plate where the injury is visible, chances are that by time you notice a white spot, you may have forgotten the nail-slamming incident that caused it. But if you’re certain you didn’t injure your nails and you are noticing recurring white spots, there are several other causes—including the skin conditions psoriasis and eczema, or a diet that’s deficient in the mineral zinc (found in whole grains, poultry and seafood).

 Ridges

Potato chips aren’t the only things that can have ridges. Nails that have even, vertical ridges are totally normal—a sign not of any health problems, but of age (they tend to become more accentuated as you get older).

Snacks for a flat belly

Posted by beautyjust4you on July 3, 2008

The time for a 100 crunches a day is finally over.

A Spanish research team has found that certain types of food actually removes belly fat. It removes not only the visual fat that we see on our stomachs but also the dangerous fat around our intestines.

Surprisingly, the food is: Fats and mono unsaturated fats.

Who would have thought that fat would hold the key to a fat stomach. So don’t worry about low fat anymore go for right fat instead.

One thing about foods that are high in mono unsaturated fats is that they are great as snacks. Always keep a bag of raw nuts in your purse, your car and your office drawer. Munch on marinated olives in front of the TV. And eat avocados and guacamole as often as you can.

Here are ideas for 7 days of flat tummy snacks. Eat them during the day or in the evening, maybe in front of the TV.
Snacking is healthy! Just watch what you snack on.

 7 days of healthy snacks:

  • Monday: ½ cup of peanuts and 1 apple
  • Tuesday: Rye bread and mashed avocado (mash the avocado with a fork and spread on your sandwich)
  • Wednesday: Herring on whole wheat toast topped with halved cherry tomatoes
  • Thursday: 1/2 cup of pistachio nuts and 1 banana
  • Friday: Marinated olives, your favorite raw nuts and some cucumber pickles.
  • Saturday: Baby carrots with guacamole dip.
  • Sunday: Flat stomach smoothie: ½ cup of natural yogurt, 200 grams frozen berries, ½ banana, 1 tablespoon rolled oats, 4 cup of your favorite juice, a pinch of natural vanilla.

If you are very serious about getting a flat tummy fast you might want to look at your whole diet. I suggest that you follow these flat tummy diet guidelines:

  1. Eat plenty of mono unsaturated fats
    • Olives and olive oil
    • Avocado and avocado oil
    • Oats
    • Raw nuts
    • Linseeds and linseed oil
    • Sesame seeds and sesame seed oil
    • Herring
  2. Choose whole grain products. The dietary fibers will ensure a good digestion and remove bloating
  3. Eat as much fresh fruits and vegetables as you can. They will give you plenty of nutrients without a lot of calories
  4. Add some meat and fish to provide you with proteins to give you a full feeling.
  5. Avoid sugar, white flour, white rice and alcohol.

Five Signs That Your Computer Use is Affecting Your Health

Posted by beautyjust4you on June 19, 2008

We all spend way too much time on our computers. Our bodies are suffering. Here are a few signs that can pop up to alert you that your computer use is affecting your health.

1. Sore wrists
If you have sore wrists it can be a sign that you have a nice case of carpal tunnel or RSI coming on. Sore wrists are extremely common but can be quite serious as many computer related wrist injuries can take years to heal, if at all.

If you are getting sore wrists you need to stop working every 10 minutes and shake them around, tense your fingers and give them a break. It is very important.

2. Sore back
The most common complaint that computer users get is that their back is always sore. This can be caused by bad posture, poorly set up desk height or the wrong type of chair. Take a look at this post on sore backs at work for some simple ways to fix the problem.

3. Sore eyes
Sore eyes come about for a few reasons. The most common one is that you are staring at the screen far too much and your eye balls are drying out and losing the essential moisture. This can cause damage over time. The other cause is having your computer screen light incorrectly. For example, you do not want to have sunlight shining directly on to the screen.

If you are getting sore eyes try to re-asses where your desk is placed and take regular breaks to give your eyes a rest. Try looking at some big views or some duller colors for a short time.

4. Increased stress
There is a new craze sweeping the modern world – computer related stress.  Facebook addiction and I think it is something that many of us need to address before it gets out of hand.

Computer stress is a sign that your computing is affecting your health. Stress can cause many physical health problems such as headaches, stomach aches and even heart problems. Stress also lowers your immune capabilities. If you feel that your word processing, accounting, Facebook use or anything related to using a computer is stressing you out then you need to take time away from the keyboard. Do something else before that stress manifests physically.

5. Weight gain
Spending all day on a computer means that you are not getting a lot of exercise. Unless you take specific measures to go for a run or hit the gym the chances are that most of us computer users aren’t getting enough movement in the day. The easiest way to tell if you aren’t moving enough is if you are putting on weight.

Being overweight is a health hazard. It has been clearly established that overweight people are more likely to get cancer, heart disease, diabetes and so on. These are serious problems and they could be happening to you because of your computer use. If you are putting on weight then perhaps it is time to cut back on the computing and get out a little more.

The way I avoid this problem is to exercise before work as it means I start the day in an active way and get in my quota of exercise before work drains all of my energy.

Conclusion
These are not the only signs that you might get. Many people get headaches and sore necks and aching shoulders. The idea is to be aware of your body and take action as soon as you think something is not quite right. Don’t be fooled – using a computer too much can seriously affect your health.

Genetically Modified Foods (GM): Do You Really Know What’s in Your Fruits and Vegetables?

Posted by beautyjust4you on June 19, 2008

Experts say 60% to 70% of processed foods on U.S. grocery shelves have genetically modified ingredients. The most common genetically modified foods are soybeans, maize, cotton, and rapeseed oil. That means many breakfast cereals, snack foods, and foods made with cottonseed and canola oils could likely have genetically modified ingredients. These ingredients appear frequently in animal feed as well.

What is more shocking is that a new USDA-funded survey shows that researchers from the Food Policy Institute at Rutgers’ Cook College found that only 52% of Americans realized that genetically modified foods are sold in grocery stores and only 26% believed that they have ever eaten genetically modified foods.

What is genetically modified (GM) food?

Genetically modified food uses modern biotechnology or ‘gene technology’, which is also called as Genetic engineering, which allows selected individual genes to be transferred from one plant species to other and then used to grow GM plants and food crops.

Genes from animals and other plants are literally shot into the cells of plants to create “super crops” that are larger, more resistant to bugs, and have longer shelf lives. One example may be to take genes from a fruit fly and inject them into a tomato, attempting to make the tomatoes repel the flies. And guess what, now we’re eating the genes of that fruit fly. And you didn’t even know it…

Why are GM crops grown?

The fundamental aim of GM foods to increase crop production and conquer world hunger. GM foods are developed and marketed with a belief that these foods are cheaper to grow, have better nutritional value, are more insect resistant and more resistant to plant diseases caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. There is a belief that GM foods will result in lesser quantities of herbicides used.

Insect resistance is overcome by incorporating the gene for toxin production from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) into the food plant. This toxin is currently used as an insecticide in agriculture and is safe for human consumption. GM crops that permanently produce this toxin have been shown to require lower quantities of insecticides in specific situations, e.g. where pest pressure is high.

Virus resistance is achieved through the introduction of a gene from certain viruses, which cause disease in plants. Virus resistance makes plants less susceptible to diseases caused by such viruses.

Why are GM foods potentially dangerous?

Health experts, Green peace and several consumer health activists are worried that GM foods will have:

  • Direct health effects on the body
  • Tendencies to provoke allergic reaction
  • Specific components may have toxic properties
  • The stability of the inserted gene is questionable
  • Nutritional effects associated with genetic modification are not known
  • If it will cause any unintended effects which could result from the gene insertion
  • It may create Antibiotic resistance
  • A Bit Different to the way Nature Works
  • It may lead to the “creation of “super” weeds and other environmental risks.
  • Long Term Effects of GM foods are Unknown
  • GM foods have not been adequately tested

GM foods can potentially threaten our very existence as a race. We have all got to get together to force our respective governments to take a more holistic approach to this problem and look at it from the safety, food security, social and ethical aspects. A coordinated international initiative should be evolved so that GM foods are more systematically re-evaluated for potential human hazard.

I would like your response on this article.

Beautiful Lips

Posted by beautyjust4you on June 15, 2008

If you want to turn up the volume of you sexual attractiveness, pay more attention to your lips. Every woman has ever used a lipstick.

The average woman consumes about 6 pounds of lipstick over the course of her lifetime. Fortunately lipstick is not harmful for one’s health. And every woman can experiment with lip make-up to make her lips more beautiful. Here you will find some useful tips, how to make lipstick last long, how to choose the right color of the lipstick, how to apply a lip liner and define lip shapes, how to make your lips appear fuller and other lip make-up ideas.

How to make your lips appear fuller

There exist different lipstick types on the market: glossy, matte, creamy and even frost. Choose one that suits you best depending on your lip skin type. For those who have thin lips it is better to choose lighter colors of the lipstick. Darker colors match more to beauties with thicker lips. Lip-gloss makes your lips appear visually fuller at the expense of volume and shine. Such lips sparkle, attract other’s eyes. Lips with lip-gloss applied on them look better on younger faces. So, extra shining lip-gloss is usually not recommended for older women.

How to make lipstick longer.

The secret to making your lip color last longer is first of all to apply a layer of foundation, dust some powder on lips and then color. After these manipulations your lipstick will not change color or dark your lips. It’s also useful to apply two coats of lipstick for long lasting lip color. Matt lipsticks normally last longer than the shiny ones.

Applying lip liner

After preparing the lips, take a lip liner to define the shape of lips. Outlining the lips is good, if you want to prevent lip color bleeding. The color of the lip liner should be close to lipstick color: the best variant would be the same or a little bit darker color.
Here are tips how to apply a lip liner. Start at the centre of lips, draw a “V” on bow of lips, after it draw the line to outer corners. Then line the bottom lip. If you want to make your lips look thicker, outline them just outside your lip line. In case you want your lips appear thinner, make the outline just inside your natural lip line. After the shape is defined, fill it with lipstick. After filling the interiors, apply the lipstick in the corners, which is easier with the open the mouth.

Some more Tips

  • Use lip care stick before going to bed with your other face treatment. Your lips are sensitive and need care and rest. Very dried and chipped lips can also be helped by applying sunflower oil on them.
  • You can apply lipstick with a brush.
  • Mix lip care stick with color lipstick, if your lips tend to look dried and chipped. Too much lip care stick can make the final color brighter in the middle and the rest color concentrate on the periphery of the lips.
  • Refrain from licking your lips.
  • Lip-gloss can be applied either alone or on matte lipstick to make your lips shine.
  • Apply cotton buds to remove excess lipstick.

You can always experiment and create new beautiful looks with different colors of the lipstick and lip liners, mixing lipstick and lip-gloss, drawing different shapes of your lips. While experimenting don’t forget to regularly take care of your lips, because if your lips are healthy, they look much more attractive and can be a real turn-on.

Sugar is the Sweetest Poison of ALL

Posted by beautyjust4you on June 12, 2008

Our sugar consumption has hit the roof. Americans are eating more sugar than their ancestors. The exact figure is not known but it is estimated that it is over 120 pounds per person per year and that is an awful lot.

Among carbohydrates there are simple carbohydrates and there are complex carbohydrates that are found in starches. In nature sugars are found in an unrefined state in foods such as cane sugar, sugar beets, fruits, in corn and rice.

Even most vegetables have fair amounts of natural sugar and there is little problem in eating them; as they are totally digestible unless you suffer from food allergies.

The real problem lies in refining the sugar

  • Sugar has been proven to destroy the germ-killing ability of white blood cells for up to five hours after ingestion.
  • It reduces the production of antibodies, proteins that combine with and inactivate foreign invaders in the body.
  • It interferes with the transport of vitamin C, one of the most important nutrients for all facets of immune function.
  • It causes mineral imbalances and sometimes it causes allergic reactions, which weaken the immune system.
  • It neutralizes the action of essential fatty acids, thus making cells more permeable to invasion by allergens and microorganisms
  •

    Sugar Related Health Problems

Addiction to drugs, caffeine & food, Anxiety, Alcoholism,

Behavior problems, Emotional problems, Binge eating, Difficulty

Arthritis, Bone loss, Gout and Osteoporosis

  • Cancer (cancer cells feed on sugar)
  • Candidiasis, Eczema, Vaginal yeast infections and Psoriasis
  • Cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure
  • Cataracts
  • Colitis. Constipation, diverticulosis, Impaired digestion of all foods
  • Indigestion
  • Diabetes, Endocrine gland dysfunction
  • Gallstones
  • High blood cholesterol High estrogen levels and Hormonal problems and Menstrual difficulties
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Insomnia
  • Kidney stones
  • Liver dysfunction
  • Shortened life span
  •

    Natural sugar substitutes

Stevia is a very sweet herb from South America that’s available in powder and liquid form at health-food stores. Stevia with FOS is a nonnutritive powder found at health-food stores or in the health-food section of your grocery store. FOS stands for fruit ogiliosaccharides, which are beneficial for and support healthy intestinal bacteria, or flora.

Single blossom honey, such as red clover honey, or orange blossom honey is low-glycemic. You can comfortably use this to sweeten your beverages.

Xylitol is birch sugar, can be used for baking and sweetening beverages. Xylitol is low-glycemic and healthy for you. It doesn’t cause blood sugar imbalances or yeast overgrowth like table sugar. It’s thought to promote bone health and prevent tooth decay and plaque buildup. The only drawback is that if you eat too much, you could experience gastrointestinal discomfort and diarrhea.

Fructose is a natural low-glycemic sugar that’s found in fruit Fructose is sweeter than regular table sugar, so you need less. The high fructose corn syrup can elevate the lipid levels and increase the risk of heart disease.

Sucrose is regular table sugar and it is medium-glycemic and fine for most people if you consume small amounts, as in sweetening your coffee.

    Eye MakeUp For Different Eyes.

    Posted by beautyjust4you on June 9, 2008

Every woman should know, how to apply makeup so that it would emphasize her natural beauty and make her more attractive and at the same time would hide defects. Depending on the shape of your eyes choose different colors and ways of applying eye makeup.

If you have deep set eyes, choose light and nacreous tints of eyeshadows, it would help to make your eyes appear visually bigger. Apply light eyeshadows on your eyelid from the inner corner of your eye to the outer and a bit further. Light colors should be applied in the middle of the lid, and darker colors – on and just above the socket line. Blend the darker shade up and out.

    Wide Set Eyes

You can visually reduce the range between your eyes if you apply a darker tint of eyeshadows from the outer corner of your eye to the middle of the eyelid. Apply a lighter eye shadow from the middle of your eyelid to the inner corner of your eye. Blend in different shades in the middle of the eyelid.

    Down Turned Eyes

If you want to make down turned eyes more beautiful, it’s important to shade eye shadow up and out. Apply eyeliner close to the upper lash line and then blend in the shadow along the socket line in the outer two thirds of the eyes. In order to visually lift the eyes, apply dense mascara.

    Asian Eyes

If you have Asian eyes, apply light eyeshadows on your eyelids. Use a pencil to make a thick smoky line along upper eyelashes (the line should be thick enough to be seen well when your eyes are open). Under the lower eyelashes draw a thinner line. In order to make your eyes visually wider apply brown eyeshadow on your eyebrows. Cover your eyelashes with two or three layers of dense mascara.

    To Get Big Eyes.

Shadows of dark shades make your eyes visually smaller, deep set, while light tints, on the contrary, make them appear bigger, “open them wider”. If you want to create the effect of big, beautiful eyes, choose light eyeshadows. Apply eyeshadows after the application of eye pencil or any other kind of eyeliner: it would make your look softer and dreamy. If you want to make your look more dramatic, apply eyeliner after the application of eye-shadows. Then curl your eyelashes, it would add them shape. Then finish your eye make-up with a layer of mascara. In order to add more volume to your eyelashes and to make them appear bigger use a dense mascara. Never line the inner edge of the lower eyelashes, it would make your eyes visually smaller.
